If you haven’t considered factory-built housing before, now might be the perfect time to do so. I wanted to get a second home that is closer to my kids, but the prices in this affluent area had kept me from doing so. On a whim one night I decided to try something besides the usual go-to searches, and found a treasure chest of homes in terrific locations - many of them under $100,000 and some were even under $20,000!

You do what? When people ask me what I do for a living, they usually aren’t prepared for the answer. Our favorite part of our Wine.Dine.GreatDesign Lifestylist Brand is that we decorate mobile homes. Those homes that are built in a factory, and go down the road on wheels to a homesite where they are finished out to become someone’s dream home. Our industry prefers to call them manufactured or factory built homes, but a large part of our consumer base still calls them mobile homes, so it’s the perfect place to start a conversation.

We shared some of the details on our American Housing Advocates site, and from what we have seen so far, this campaign alone could change how people think about manufactured housing. The home is a Bristol, and we have had the opportunity to style and spend time in many of these, and it's a beautiful home. It's really exciting to be able to share with people that were affected by the storm that this is a home that is available right now in Houston and is the perfect example of what today's manufactured homes really look like.

Workforce and affordable housing is something I champion and work hard to improve every day. People who work so hard daily to provide for their families deserve a safe and secure place to live. This is why I’ve become such an advocate of factory-built housing - it’s a true symbol of how innovative our American workforce can be.

It was one of those days you never forget. My parents had been volunteering with the Salvation Army for over 20 years, and any time there was a disaster, they stopped everything and headed out to help.
