Mothers Day Weekend Wines: Gina Gallo Signature Series
The Gallo Signature Series “Cherish our traditions and look forward to the future.”The grapes come from their estate vineyards, and third-generation winemaker Gina Gallo truly makes a lasting impression with these. Gallo describes this wine as “A vivid and complex wine, our Gallo Signature Series Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautifully fragrant, penetrating wine.
Giving Back: The Boisset Collection Gives Back to Two Very Timely Causes
Looking at all of these really has me missing being in Napa - I can’t wait to get back! Oakville Grocery has turned into something really special, and the stunning Victorian next to it has been turned into the Oakville Wine Merchant where you can sample more than 50 wines that you have only read and dreamt about by the taste, half or full-glass. The Victory Day Wine is available for purchase there, or you can also order it online. Boisset will be donating $1 for every bottle sold to support our veterans.
Wine Wednesday: Element 2014 Cabernet Franc
FLX Wienery is darn good though - every time I have gone I’ve gotten stuck in a thunderstorm, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying their off-the-charts Poutine, house-made sausages, and fries with truffle mayo. They bill themselves as “High-End Low-Brow Food” - that’s the perfect definition. They also sell their Element wines there as well, so I decided to buy a bottle of Pinot Noir to take home.
Wining and Dining In Napa
Napa Valley really is the epicenter of the culinary world, and it has been amazing to get to experience even a small part of it.
Wine makers are storytellers at heart, and it’s such a joy to visit with them and hear the stories behind their wines and their craft. I can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful Bubbles for New Years Eve
When you order a bottle of Beau Joie everyone will know - it's distinctive copper filigree casing is not only gorgeous, it helps keep the Champagne cold after opening. And both the Brut and Rose are perfection - it would be hard to choose a favorite.
A Room With a Veuve - SER at The Hilton Anatole
The dinner was held in their SER Restaurant which has spectacular views of downtown Dallas. Service was impeccable, and the food was almost too pretty to eat, but we did. The courses were beautifully presented, and paired perfectly with the wines including a Ruinart Blanc de Blanc with Grilled Diver Scallops, Waygu Spinalis with foie gras "bonbons" paired with Beaulieu Vineyard Georges De Latour Cabernet Sauvignon, and of course the star of the show - Veuve Cliquot la Grande Dame paired with Valrhona Pot D'Creme.
A Night of Wine and Chocolates
Now that The Margaret Hunt Hill bridge is open in West Dallas, The Trinity Groves community is coming alive with some amazing new stores, restaurants and original ideas. One of those is The Workroom -the brain child of curator Nick Troilo. It defies a traditional label - The Workroom is a combination of a design and floral studio, art gallery, and event space. Thursday they are going to host a very special gathering that they hope will become a regular event - A night of Wine and Chocolates.
