Norma's Holiday Sweet Rolls
This is a recipe that has been in my family for over 100 years. It is very versatile and can be used in various sweet and savory ways.
Baked Peach French Toast
The peaches this year are spectacular! Every time I go to the Dallas Farmers market I come home with more and have more reasons to try out some new recipes using them. Jami Fleming of Jami's Handmade Pies had buttermilk bread at the market the other day. This dense, slightly sweet bread was perfect with the peaches.
Fresh Corn Fritters
A few years ago I discovered the Avon Corn Festival that is put on every year by the Avon NY Rotary Club. It was so much fun, I go back every chance I have.
One of the highlights (besides the kid’s corn on the cob eating contest) is the corn fritters that they make and sell. They have a huge flat top that they make them on all day long, and they are one of the best things I've ever eaten. I've been working ever since on trying to duplicate their recipe.
Everything But The Kitchen Sink Breakfast Bites
One of the things I enjoy the most about having company over at the Home Idea Factory is having the opportunity to cook for everyone and to try out new recipes.
It seems like lately there are more people with dietary restrictions so these bites are an easy way to let people design their own dishes without a lot of extra cooking and prep time. You can literally put anything into them you like, and each person can customize it with their favorite ingredients.
Mardi Gras Banana Crepes
I love working in Louisiana. People really know how to enjoy themselves and appreciate their friends and family, and of course, there's nothing they like more than a reason to celebrate.
With Mardi Gras being celebrated this Tuesday I wanted to work on a dish that Chef Kyle at The Thermador Showroom introduced me to - Mardi Gras Bana Crepes. It's the perfect dish for brunch, dessert, or any time you want to show off a little even if you don't think you know how to cook.
Ham and Cheese Breakfast Biscuits
Breakfast is a hard meal for me, and I know that my daughter has a tough time getting something healthy into my grandkids before they all head out to school. This is the LifestylistFood® version of a recipe I found on Pinterest, and I'm crazy about it! It's easy enough that the kids can make them themselves. By adding the ham and cheese you get some nutrients that can hold you over until lunch, and these are so moist you don't need butter or anything else on them. Be sure not to substitute something else for the buttermilk - it gives these the moistness and kick that makes them so special.
Strawberry Pop Ups
This is a true Lazy Cook recipe. All you need is a blender and a cast iron pan, and even though it is super easy to make, it’s a show-stopper when it comes out of the oven.
